The PL-1440E-1 is a heavy-duty 14″ x 40″ gear head engine lathe built for shops that need more horsepower and swing than a 13-inch class machine, without moving to three-phase power. Three horsepower on 230V single phase means it drops into a standard shop panel and still has the torque for deeper passes in tougher material.

Geared-head drive is the reason it holds a cut. Power transmits through hardened gears rather than belts, so spindle speed stays put when the tool loads up — a belt-driven machine slips and burnishes instead of cutting. Eight spindle speeds cover 90 to 1,800 RPM through a D1-5 spindle nose.

The 2-inch spindle bore is the spec that changes what jobs you can take.
