Overview

The WP2510 is Powermatic’s production planer — 25 inches of width, 9 inches of thickness capacity, and 15 horsepower behind a solid steel helical cutterhead carrying 174 four-sided carbide inserts. This is the tier where a planer stops being a shop machine and becomes a line machine, sized for shops running lumber through every hour the doors are open.

Table height is set digitally through a PC controller with a readout, so thickness is a number you enter rather than a handwheel you creep up on. The frame is machined from heavy cast iron with extra-wide side panels and gibs, giving the bed rigid support and holding alignment through years of production feed.

The feed system is what separates this from lighter machines. A segmented, serrated infeed roll with segmented chip breakers has 1/4 inch of independent yield, which means it can feed boards of different thicknesses through in the same pass without lifting off the thinner one. A self-adjusting chain-drive gearbox with automatic tensioners powers the 3-inch infeed rollers, solid pressure bar, and dual outfeed rollers — feed pressure stays constant as the chain wears instead of slipping under load.

Three feed speeds — 20, 25, and 30 FPM — change at a selector rather than a gear swap. The Quick-Set micro-adjustable lever raises and lowers the table rollers from 0 to 0.050 inches at a touch, so you tune for rough or surfaced stock without crawling under the table.

Ordering and freight

At 1,760 lb gross this machine ships by freight and needs rigging rather than a curbside drop. Send us your delivery address, dock situation, and access details and we will build a complete landed quote covering freight and placement.

Power: three phase only, prewired 230V and field-convertible to 460V. A 460V-dedicated configuration is also available. If your shop is single phase, a rotary phase converter sized above 15 HP is required — we can quote one alongside the machine.
