Overview
A vertical contour band saw does what no cutoff saw can: it lets you steer the work. Straight cuts, curves, and internal cutouts all happen on one self-contained machine, in metal, wood, or plastic. The SWV-1209 is Sharp’s entry into that category and it arrives with the features that make contour work practical rather than theoretical.
Speed is infinitely variable through an inverter drive — 118 to 1,312 feet per minute, shown on a digital display and adjusted with a knob. That range is unusually wide. The slow end handles tool steel and stainless where heat destroys a blade; the fast end cuts aluminum, brass, and plastics at rates a fixed-speed saw can’t approach. One machine covers materials that would normally need two.
The blade welder is the feature that unlocks internal cuts. Drill a hole in your workpiece, shear the blade, thread it through, weld it back together, grind the slag off the joint, and cut the shape from inside — all at the machine. Sharp uses a gold-plated welding port rather than the usual copper, which resists the oxidation that degrades weld quality over time. Shear, welder, and grinder are all built in.
Everything else supports accuracy. One-piece construction reduces vibration. Tungsten carbide tipped blade guides and backup bearing hold the blade square and last. A cast iron table gives a rigid work surface and tilts 10 degrees front and rear, 15 degrees left and right. A chip blower keeps your scribed line visible, a brush cleans the drive wheel, and an LED work light puts illumination exactly where the blade meets the work.

Manuals and documentation
Ordering and freight
Ships by freight. This machine is too large to unload with a liftgate — you will need a forklift, a dock, or a rigging service at delivery. Send us your delivery address and access details and we will build a complete landed quote covering freight and placement.
Power: 1 HP three phase. If your shop is single phase, a rotary phase converter is required — we can quote one alongside the saw.
Blades: takes 100″ blades in widths matched to your smallest cutting radius. Tell us the tightest curve you need to cut and we will spec blade width and tooth pitch with the machine.
